DAY 1 - 32.3 MILES

We can't believe we're back on the road again!!  Since we are only three for the next 2 weeks, we're figuring out how to get more mileage and have the driver wall a few miles, too. Today Maxine and Eva walked, and Pat drove.
After we dropped the rental car at the Abilene airport, we drove to as pot that is exactly north of where we finished in March. The road was great - not much traffic, wide shoulders, and very smooth. There was not much along the route, but we did see a couple of wind farms, interesting cattle, a historic marker with a cattle car that was used in the early 1900s, lots of ranches, but they were all set back from the road, so we saw no houses. There were also almost no trees and no clouds, which meant there was no shade, and it was hot today but quite windy which help a lot.   We did see a few animals, dead and alive. There were several armadillos, turtles crossing the road, a couple of snakes and some unidentifiable roadkill.  On the way back to our hotel we stopped at Starbucks to refuel with Frappuccinos, went out for dinner and then to Walmart.  Sat night in Walmart is an experience!
