DAY 28 - 11.4 MILES

We walked to where we could get on the  interstate and drive to New Orleans where we are spending the weekend with the parents of Maxine's daughter in law. Many thanks to Celia and Leonard for their gracious hospitality.   After we arrived, they fed us lunch, and Leonard took us sightseeing. We walked on a boardwalk on Lake Pontchartrain, headed over to the Mississippi River to climb up a levee and watch the ships from the spot that the explorer La Salle landed on, and walked around a fabulous park that is also a bird sanctuary. We saw lots of wood ducks, swans, ibis, seagulls, turtles, and nutria.  Celia made us a wonderful dinner highlighted by a Creole catfish and shrimp casserole and a gorgeous homemade cake.

  1. Thanks for the great pictures - we're really enjoying your travels and the daily write ups - and that you're taking time to enjoy your walk - seeing the sights and visiting with people along the way -

  2. Did you ever consider walking around the world...as in Epcot?
